University-based MA training

Leslie Bunt is Programme Leader of the MA Music Therapy at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE). A part-time 3-year MA has been validated by UWE and the Health Professions Council (HPC) enabling graduates to register as professional music therapists. The MA is based within the Allied Health Professions Department which is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Music therapists with holders of a previous Post-Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy are also able to apply to enrol on the two research-based modules to ‘Progress’ to the MA in Music Therapy.

Short courses, workshops and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events

Other short courses, workshops and CPD events take place at UWE. Some courses are open to community musicians, teachers and other allied health professionals wishing to explore more use of music in their work. Other events, study days, workshops and CPD events are open to practising music therapists and other creative therapy practitioners.     

Training in Music Imagery (GIM)

Leslie Bunt is a Primary Trainer in Guided Imagery in Music (GIM) and the first training (approved by the Association of Music and Imagery) began in 2007. There are groups currently training in the UK, Ireland and Italy. New trainings are being planned for 2012. For further information contact Leslie or the Association of Music and Imagery
