Training

University-based MA training

Leslie Bunt is Programme Leader of the MA Music Therapy at the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE). A part-time 3-year MA has been validated by UWE and the Health Professions Council (HPC) enabling graduates to register as professional music therapists. The MA is based with the Allied Health Professions School which is part of the Faculty of Health and Social Care.

Music therapists with holders of a previous Post-Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy are also able to apply to enter the two final year modules to 'Progress to the MA.' There is also an opportunity for applicants from overseas who do not wish to practise in the UK to apply to enroll for the award of MA in Music Therapeutic Studies, a title that does not permit entry to the HPC register of music therapists.

Short courses and workshops

Other day and short courses on group facilitation with music are currently being set up. These courses will be open to community musicians, teachers, and allied health professionals wishing to explore more use of music in their work. Check with UWE for the latest information regarding dates of workshops and short courses.

Training in Music Imagery (GIM)

Leslie Bunt is a Primary Trainer in Guided Imagery in Music (GIM) and the first introductory training will be running in August in 2007. See News page for details.

He is also developing training with colleagues in Europe and further afield.
