Music Therapy Supervision Practice
Leslie offers both individual and small group supervision to registered music therapists working with a range of client groups.
Music therapy is the use of sounds and music within an evolving relationship between client/patient and therapist to support and
develop physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual well-being.
(Bunt, L. & Hoskyns, S. (eds.) 2002 The Handbook of Music Therapy, pp. 10-11, East Sussex: Brunner-Routledge)
As practiced in the UK music therapy is fundamentally about building a relationship through sound with a child or adult. The music therapist encourages the clients/patients to make music, improvising on a wide range of tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments. Songwriting and receptive listening approaches are also used.
Leslie has worked as a music therapist with individuals and groups of children and adults of all ages and with many needs. Currently he is concentrating on work in cancer care.
